Engine, Powershift and Backhoe Service Coverage

• Engine and fuel: Internal engine overhaul, compression testing, injector testing and servicing, injection-pump removal and timing, plus cooling and lubrication repairs.

Engine Overhaul, Fuel Timing and Turbocharger Limits

Engine chapters cover cylinder-head, valve, piston, crankshaft and bearing inspection, with bore and stroke data, compression-ratio specifications, wear limits, valve clearances and component torque tables. Radiator, thermostat, water-pump and oil-pump procedures extend the coverage beyond the internal engine.

Maintenance intervals, fluid capacities and approved-fluid specifications accompany the relevant component chapters.

Lucas/CAV DP203: Pump removal, timing checks and installation are described, with timing tools NH 01341 and NH 01342. Internal pump dismantling, testing and adjustment are assigned to an authorized CAV specialist; this is not a complete injection-pump rebuilding and calibration guide.

Garrett T250: Housing removal, cleaning, inspection and shaft-clearance checks are covered. Disassembling the factory-balanced center housing rotating assembly (CHRA) destroys its balance and requires a replacement CHRA.

Transmission Diagnosis and Driveline Setup

Pressure-test port locations and microprocessor fault-code breakdowns support fault isolation across the mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems. For suspected clutch slip, the manual explains how clutch-pressure readings help distinguish low hydraulic pressure from friction-material failure.

Powershift overhaul requires a suitable workshop press and induction heater. The torque converter is a sealed unit, not an assembly for internal component repair.

Axle chapters distinguish front Carraro 26.25 NH and rear 26.25 M assemblies. Differential setup includes pinion shimming, bearing preload and crown-wheel backlash; the general service instructions also address individual shim measurement rather than reliance on nominal shim sizes or a complete stack.

Hydraulic Tests and Attachment Repairs

Pump-cavitation and efficiency tests distinguish suction restrictions from loss of output under load. Danfoss OSP 160LS steering coverage includes component inspection and pressure testing. Frame and attachment procedures distinguish sideshift and center-pivot layouts.

Illustrations include the Steering Valve Schematic, Hydraulic Control Valve Section and Load Sensing Flow Sharing—All Spools in Neutral views. The extendible-dipperstick section warns that overtightening the upper wear-pad retaining bolts can damage the threaded inserts.

Since heavy machinery maintenance involves significant mechanical force and pressurized fluids, always review the factory safety protocols and hazard warnings in the opening chapters before beginning physical work.

Electrical Drawings and Missing Foldouts

Drawing limits: The market-specific vehicle wiring foldouts in Chapter 2 are missing; only their titles and foldout placeholders remain. The Hydraulic Circuit Schematic foldout is also absent. These omissions matter if full-machine circuit tracing is the main reason for purchase.

The separate Starter Circuit Diagram, Powershift Microprocessor Circuit and fault-code flowcharts are included. Magneti Marelli A127-70 charging tests and electrical component checks are covered, along with Electronic Instrument Cluster (EIC) functions, maintenance-level programming and tire-related speedometer calibration.

Cab Climate Control and Compressor Service

The Sanden SD7B10 section includes clutch, shaft-seal and cylinder-head work. Performance Test Diagnosis charts relate gauge readings to cooling faults. Refrigerant work is specified for a certified specialist using suitable recovery and service equipment.

A Preview of Engine and Compressor Settings

The engine torque table lists main bearing bolts at 197 N·m (145 ft-lb). Fuel General gives 3° BTDC as the DP203 dynamic timing reference; the pump installation chapter provides separate engine-position and locking-tool settings.

For the Sanden SD7B10 compressor, the clutch-front-plate-to-pulley air-gap specification is 0.4–0.8 mm (0.016–0.031 in), alongside clutch service and shim-adjustment instructions.
