Model-Year Differences Are Built Into the Manual
This is not a generic 650 manual with a broad date range added to the title. Each supplement identifies the procedures and parts that differ from the earlier text. The 1987 A2 section adds the sediment bowl, revised electrical cases and wiring, trim-adjuster changes, and a storage drain procedure for the added bowl. The 1989 A4 supplement documents the cylinder-head flushing connection and the RPM-limiter ignition circuit, while the 1990 A5 section records its new-type flame arrester and revised carburetor specification.
The 1988 A3 supplement marks fuel-system revisions beginning at engine numbers JF650AE029887 and JF650AE029996, then identifies the late crankshaft center-main-bearing position ring beginning at JF650AE031798. The 37-page 1991 A6 supplement is the largest update. It covers the CDK38-32 carburetor and fuel-pump assembly, revised cable and wire routing, the intake-side oil-injection nozzle, one-piece exhaust tubes, enlarged bilge hose and filter, changed steering ball-joint position, revised wiring, and the electric case that houses the starter relay and regulator/rectifier.
