Dodge Charger 2006–2008 Service & Owner’s Manual Collection

Use the workshop volumes for diagnosis and repair, and the owner’s books for operation, maintenance schedules, fluids, and owner checks.

Year and drivetrain limits: The 2006 service manual identifies the Charger in its RWD vehicle line. Its 175 FIA front-axle and MS140 transfer-case chapters cover other AWD LX configurations. The 2005 volume covers the earlier platform and predates the Charger listing.

The standard 2007 Charger owner’s manual discusses AWD where equipped, but the owner’s books do not replace a complete 2007 workshop manual. No 2008 Charger volume is included. The ten service extracts carry “2007 Chrysler 300 SRT-8” headers; several system chapters also name Charger and Magnum, while the wiring collection and DTC index are Chrysler 300-specific.

Search and diagram navigation: Both LX service volumes have searchable repair text and chapter bookmarks, but many wiring labels are not searchable. Three introductory bookmarks in the 2005 volume point to files outside this download. The owner’s books and nine other service extracts have searchable text without bookmarks. Engine, Drivetrain and Chassis Workshop Coverage

The selected topics below highlight repair and diagnostic material from the workshop volumes and supporting extracts.

• Engine repair: Mechanical and electrical diagnosis, compression and cylinder-leakage testing, engine removal, cylinder-head service, and timing-drive repair for the documented V6 and HEMI engines.

• Automatic transmissions: 42RLE and NAG1 fault isolation, removal, internal disassembly and assembly, clutch checks, hydraulic testing, and operational verification.

Engine Timing and Fuel-System Work

Fuel-system sections cover pump-module, fuel-level-sender, regulator, rail, and tank service. These procedures sit alongside engine-performance diagnostic charts rather than serving only as component descriptions.

Transmission Adaptation and Differential Setup

The electronic-control sections document 42RLE TCM Quick Learn and NAG1 adaptation after specified transmission repairs or component replacement. Differential setup information extends to pinion depth, bearing preload, backlash, and shim selection.

Component-specific torque tables, fluid capacities, inspection limits, and electrical test data accompany the repair sections. Specified tools include Ball Joint Remover/Installer 9320, NAG1 Dipstick 9336, and Engine Lifting Fixture 8342A.

The NAG1 installation section warns that overlong torque-converter mounting bolts can damage the converter’s internal clutch surface.

The manual identifies the SRT8 front knuckle separately from the standard RWD part. MK25 and MK25E information distinguishes early- and later-launch ABS/ESP systems.

Always ensure the vehicle is properly secured on weight-rated jack stands and wear protective equipment when working under the chassis.

Circuit Tracing, Body and Air Conditioning

The wiring diagrams, pin-outs, and location views can be used together to follow a circuit from its schematic to the connector, ground, or splice on the vehicle.

Body service: Glass, interior trim, and sealing information supplement the mechanical chapters.

Air conditioning: Diagnosis and component service include refrigerant leak testing, recovery, evacuation, and charging with the specified equipment.

Examples of Oil-Pressure and NAG1 Clearance Data

For the 5.7L engine, the oil-pressure test specifies a minimum of 25 kPa (4 psi) at curb idle after the thermostat opens. At 3,000 rpm, the specified range is 170–758 kPa (25–110 psi).

The NAG1 assembly specifications give geartrain end play as 0.3–0.5 mm (0.012–0.020 in.), alongside separate clutch-clearance and shim-selection data.
