This 385-page PDF combines the main XVS1100L/XVS1100LC service manual with an appended XVS1100AWR(C)/XVS1100ATR(C) Supplementary Service Manual, P/N LIT-11616-16-46 / Form 5KS-28197-E1. The supplement adds changed specifications for model codes 5KSJ, 5KSK, 5KSU, and 5KSV, along with revised cable routing, maintenance information, front- and rear-wheel procedures, switch checks, and its own wiring diagram.

That 5KS-E1 section is an update, not a stand-alone replacement for every 5KS publication. Yamaha directs technicians to use it with the base 5EL manual and the separate XVS1100AM/XVS1100AMC supplement, P/N LIT-11616-13-36 / Form 5KS-28197-E0. The 5KS-E0 supplement is not included in this PDF, an important distinction when selecting coverage for an A-series machine.

The base manual also separates U.S., California, and Canadian specifications. California-only evaporative-emission parts, purge-hose routing, carburetor data, and related electrical checks are identified where the configurations differ.

Several factory cautions matter during teardown. The piston section warns against driving the piston pin out with a hammer and against dropping a circlip into the crankcase. Valve service keeps lapping compound out of the stem-to-guide clearance, where abrasive residue can damage the guide and stem. The front- and rear-cylinder timing references are different; confusing them can put the valve train out of phase and risk valve damage.
