The XF650's cold valve-clearance ranges are 0.08–0.13 mm at the intake and 0.17–0.22 mm at the exhaust. Cylinder-head assembly specifications distinguish the head bolts, at 38 N·m, from the separate head nuts, at 25 N·m.
