1982 John Deere 410 Backhoe Loader Technical Manual (P/N TM-1037)

This John Deere technical manual covers the 1971–1982 410 Backhoe Loader, with service information for diesel and gasoline versions. Publication TM-1037, dated December 1982, covers machine separation, component repair, testing, and adjustment.

Transmission coverage includes shifter mechanisms, shafts and gears, bearing setup, and differential tooth-contact patterns. Reverser diagnosis addresses slow or harsh engagement, clutch slippage, and pressure-regulating and speed-of-shift adjustments.

Hydraulic Testing and Backhoe Systems

Service Data Examples

For engine inspection, the manual gives a maximum rectangular piston-ring groove clearance of 0.008 in., checked with the correct new ring and a feeler gauge.

Electrical data distinguishes the 35-amp and 55-amp alternators; the latter has a nominal 12-volt rating. The capacity chart lists 20.5 U.S. gallons for the combined transmission and hydraulic system.
