Repair Notes and Scope Limits
The timing pin must be disengaged before the crankshaft is rotated; leaving it engaged can break the pin and compromise timing work. The fuel-injection-pump mounting nuts must not be used to draw the pump into the gear housing, and the specified mounting sequence matters because the pump or housing can be damaged. After block resurfacing or replacement of the block, crankshaft, or connecting rods, piston grade and head-gasket selection must be matched to the resulting geometry; intercooled and non-intercooled pistons are not interchangeable.
