Closing the lower-right cover while the process unit is only partly withdrawn can bring the secondary-transfer high-voltage contact against the ITB belt and scratch it. Incorrect drum-shutter positioning can stop toner feed, scatter toner inside the machine, or break parts when the process-unit handle is turned. Closing the ITB cover unevenly—or before releasing its support arm—can produce color displacement or light images and may damage the cover, belt, or arm.

The safety sections address electrical isolation, laser exposure, the heated fixing system, toner, the lithium battery, and heavy-machine handling. Canon also warns that interrupting HDD access or a system-software download can corrupt the drive or leave the machine unable to start.

Canon issued the manual for all sales localities, so some option, accessory, and user-mode information is region-specific.
