Land Rover Engine Maintenance Tips
People purchase Land Rovers for different reasons. They’re beautiful on the exterior, have comfortable interiors and come fortified with high-performance engines. However, those engines require to be pampered if you want to enjoy your prestige car for years to come. Here are some engine maintenance tips that’ll keep your Land Rover on the road and out of the workshop. Refer to our Range Rover P38 1995 to 1999 Repair Manual Download for detailed tips.
1. Replace the oil
Motor oil keeps all the moving components of the engine oiled and functioning properly. However, because it also traps filth and sediment, it must be replaced regularly to make sure it’s clean and functions well.
2. Take care of the cooling system
The cooling system on a Land Rover comprises coolant, a radiator, a water pump and the thermostat. They function together to make sure your car doesn’t overheat. Make sure there’s always sufficient coolant and that the other mechanisms are in good repair.
3. Replace the air filter
Air should be able to go freely around the engine at all times. A filthy air filter limits the amount of air getting into the engine block, which will lead to poor performance and less power while driving.
4. Top up the gas
Gas commonly contains small amounts of deposit and impurities that settle to the bottom of the tank. Running the engine with the tank low means that this deposit will be pumped into the engine along with the fuel and cause damage. You should also replace your fuel filter regularly.
5. Change the engine belts
When your engine is on, the different belts will run. While they usually have a long lifespan, if one breaks while the vehicle is on it can cause serious damage. Pay attention to them regularly to make sure there are no cracks.
6. Never ignore the check engine light
