Yamaha Bruin 350 4x2 ATV Manual Set, 2004–2006 (P/N LIT-11616-17-33)

The owner’s manual covers riding, pre-ride checks, and routine upkeep. For 350 repairs, Yamaha directs technicians to use the supplement with the base service manual. The supplement provides 350-specific procedures and specifications and refers back to the base for shared procedures.

The radiator, water pump, front differential, and 2WD/4WD selector procedures apply to the YFM400FAR. The 350 uses an air-cooled SOHC single-cylinder engine with an oil cooler and rear shaft drive. The owner’s manual also directs riders to read the separate Tips for the ATV Rider booklet before operating the ATV.

• Engine repair: Cylinder-head and valve-train service, piston and ring inspection, crankcase separation, crankshaft removal and installation, and balancer-gear alignment.

• V-belt transmission and shaft drive: Primary and secondary sheave service, centrifugal clutch inspection, internal transmission removal and reassembly, and middle-gear shim selection.

• Brakes and chassis: Front hydraulic disc brake and rear drum brake service, rear pedal and lever adjustment, steering inspection, and front suspension work.

The owner’s manual is written for ATV riders. Yamaha prepared the service publications primarily for dealers and qualified mechanics familiar with mechanical repair.

Engine, Carburetor, and Shaft Drive

The 350 supplement covers oil-pump disassembly, oil-cooler removal, and crankshaft installation. Its oil-flow diagrams trace lubrication through the engine, filter, and cooler. Tool references include the YM-04134 sheave spring compressor and YU-90050 crankshaft installer set.

For the Mikuni BSR33 carburetor, the base manual shows how the float, needle valve, diaphragm, and fuel level are checked. The 350 supplement supplies the settings for carburetor ID 5UH1 00. The owner’s manual also covers idle adjustment.

The 350 supplement shows how to select middle-gear shims after gear or bearing replacement. The base manual documents universal-joint service and rear final-drive gear positioning and backlash adjustment. Its shaft-drive diagnosis explains how insufficient backlash can damage gear teeth.

Brake, Steering, and Electrical Checks

Front disc brake coverage includes master-cylinder and caliper service and bleeding. The front brake section warns that unsuitable solvents can swell the seals. Rear drum coverage includes shoe and drum inspection, while the chassis sections cover steering-stem bearings, tie rods, ball joints, toe-in, and swingarm inspection.

The 350 signal and cooling circuit diagrams accompany checks of the thermo unit, diode, fan relay, and fan motor. The wiring diagram and cable routing drawings help locate the relevant connectors and trace the harness when diagnosing a warning light or fan fault. For the YFM350AS, the supplement lists cold valve clearance of 0.06–0.10 mm at the intake and 0.16–0.20 mm at the exhaust.

For rear drum inspection, it gives a 2.0 mm brake shoe lining wear limit and a 161 mm maximum drum inside diameter.
