Manual-Specific Repair Cautions
Crankcase separation requires the shift-drum segment and drive-axle circlip to be positioned as shown; getting that relationship wrong can catch the segment teeth and damage the crankcase mating surfaces. Crankshaft installation is built around the specified pull-in tools and lubricated oil-seal lips, since a forced or dry installation can scratch the crankshaft and damage the seal. Brake caliper and master-cylinder internals must be cleaned with clean or new brake fluid—not ordinary solvent, which can swell and distort the piston seals.
Hydraulic brake work, nitrogen-charged shock absorbers, and internal engine repair can leave the ATV unsafe when procedures or final checks are skipped. Follow the Yamaha sequence and use a qualified technician when the required tools, measuring equipment, or repair experience are not available.
