Ford Mustang/Cobra 2004 Repair Manual Set

The repair articles provide workshop procedures, while the Ford owner publications cover vehicle operation and scheduled maintenance. This mixed-year collection combines Mitchell repair information, ALLDATA service sheets, and Ford owner literature rather than one Ford-published workshop manual.

Coverage limits: Most workshop articles address the 2003 Mustang/Cobra, with selected 2002–04 applications and dedicated 2004 Cobra engine material. Match each article’s heading and configuration to the vehicle. The separate SVT Cobra Owner’s Guide supplement is not included, and the wiring files cover 2000 and 2003 rather than a complete 2004 wiring manual.

Text search and wiring labels: The PDFs contain searchable text, but many illustrated specification tables and wiring labels are outside the text layer. The Owner’s Guide has embedded chapter bookmarks; the other files do not. Small pin numbers and wire codes in the sampled wiring diagrams are readable when enlarged.

The ZIP contains 96 printable PDFs totaling 4,898 pages. That total includes two blank end pages in the Owner’s Guide, one additional end page in the in-vehicle engine file, and both copies of the identical drive-belt sheet. The porting supplement and recall note are also included in the total.

Disassembly extends to the timing chains and tensioners, oil pump and pickup, pistons, connecting rods, crankshaft, and main bearings.

A Preview of Cobra Camshaft and Cylinder-Bore Inspection Data

The 2004 Cobra 4.6L (4V) engine tables list camshaft journal-to-bearing clearance of 0.025–0.076 mm and camshaft endplay of 0.025–0.165 mm. These inspection specifications accompany the engine repair material.

Cylinder-block data include a maximum bore taper of 0.016 mm. The same tables provide piston-ring, crankshaft-journal, and connecting-rod-bearing measurements for evaluating the internal components.
