All three use the Pfaff transverse double-rotating hook and a toothed-belt drive between the arm shaft and lower shaft. Separate procedures address differences in feed-dog centering, presser-bar height, feed-regulator cranks, automatic modules, and needle positioning.

Assembly Precautions and Electrical Checks

The 1540 utility-stitch procedures identify toothed-segment timing marks and gear alignment requirements. Incorrect positioning can disturb the mechanism's timing or leave the gears binding.

Bevel gears are replaced as a pair, with specific attention to hook-shaft bushing, plastic-washer, and hollow-pin positioning to avoid end play or binding. The motor-pinion section classifies a pinion removed during rotor replacement as unusable.

Disconnect the machine from mains power before opening the housing or working near electrical components. Pfaff calls for electrical safety testing after mechanical repairs as well as electrical repairs.

The M 5013 procedures include separate leakage-current checks for complete motors before installation. The motor circuit-board chapter also specifies replacement of the capacitor and master switch together with the board.

Examples of Feed and Hook Adjustment Specifications

For these machines, the feed-dog height requirement is 0.9 mm above the needle plate at its highest working position.

The hook-clearance check specifies 0.05 mm between the hook point and needle scarf at straight stitch, using a new size 80 needle. Hook timing is referenced to a 2.2 mm rise from the needle bar's lowest position, with straight stitch and the needle centered.
