  • Dry-sump engine-oil capacity is 1.3 L at draining, 1.4 L with filter replacement, and 1.7 L after disassembly. Front-fork data specifies Pro Honda Suspension Fluid SS-7 or equivalent, a 477 cm³ oil capacity, and an 82 mm standard oil level. Rear-damper charge is 981 kPa (142 psi) nitrogen.
  • Wear data includes a 73.11 mm cylinder I.D. service limit; piston-ring end-gap limits of 0.40 mm top, 0.55 mm second, and 0.86 mm oil rail; a 2.69 mm clutch-disc thickness limit; 0.30 mm clutch-plate warpage limit; and brake-disc thickness limits of 2.5 mm front and 4.0 mm rear.

Electrical Diagnostics, Tools, and Reference Views

Electrical diagnosis covers the ICM/CDI ignition, ignition coil, exciter coil, ignition pulse generator, alternator lighting coil, AC regulator, engine stop switch, headlight, and taillight. Useful test thresholds include 100 V minimum for ignition-coil primary and exciter-coil peak voltage, 0.7 V minimum for the ignition pulse generator, and 12.0–14.0 V AC-regulator output at 3,000 rpm. Honda specifies an Imrie Model 625 tester or peak-voltage adapter 07HGJ-0020100 with a 10 MΩ/DCV minimum digital multimeter.

Special-tool coverage is equally specific: carburetor float-level gauge 07401-0010000, valve-spring compressor 07757-0010000, fork-rod holder 07PMB-KZ40101, and clutch-center holder 07923-KE10000 are all identified by number. Repair Notes That Matter

The manual warns that installing the oil filter backward can cause severe engine damage. Hard-seating the carburetor pilot screw can damage its seat, and burrs left in the rear-shock stopper-ring groove can damage the damper-rod piston ring. These details are easy to miss during repair work and are exactly the kind of assembly-specific cautions that generic maintenance information does not supply.

Scope note: the service manual refers the pre-ride inspection and detailed rider-specific rear-shock preload/damping setup to the Owner’s Manual. Those owner-level setup instructions are therefore outside this publication’s main repair scope.
