Repair Notes and Shop Safety
The 2.4 timing chapter warns that reversing the flange on crankshaft sprocket B can lead to belt failure, while excessive cam-sprocket rotation at No. 1 TDC can allow valve-to-piston contact. The transfer-case chapter also calls out driven-sprocket orientation and thrust-washer-to-clutch-pack alignment because an incorrectly seated assembly prevents proper snap-ring installation.
Review the applicable configuration, factory specifications, and routing diagrams before putting the van on a lift. Support the vehicle at the specified points, relieve fuel-system pressure before opening gasoline lines, recover refrigerant with approved equipment, and follow the manual's SRS isolation precautions before restraint-system repair.
