Gasoline and Diesel Engine Coverage

The 2020 uses the 3TG72-JUV gasoline engine. Diesel specifications distinguish 3TNE74C-JUV, S.N. through 100030, from 3TNE74C-EJUV, S.N. 100031 and up.

Gasoline carburetor coverage separates electric-choke engines through CH3009G007962 from manual-choke engines starting at CH3009G007963. Throttle cable and governor adjustments also distinguish S.N. through 020056 from 020057 and up.

Internal engine repair data includes timing-gear backlash, connecting-rod side play, piston-ring end gaps, and cylinder-bore sizing. Component-specific torque tables, fluid capacities, and wear limits support inspection and assembly decisions.

Cooling-system diagnosis covers radiator-cap pressure, system leakage, and exhaust gas in the coolant, with hose-routing views and coolant-pump removal and installation procedures.

Diesel Injection Service Limits

Fuel-injection nozzle tests cover opening pressure, spray pattern, and leakage. Fuel-control and governor-linkage procedures are included, alongside restrictions for CARB/EPA-certified injection pumps and governors.

Factory-set fast idle is not adjustable. The injection-pump timing chapter directs diagnosis toward other causes and authorized pump testing; certified pump and governor repairs require complete-assembly replacement by authorized, factory-trained technicians.

The manual warns that turning the injection pump's delivery-valve fittings during line removal can damage the pump internally.

Electrical Circuits and Harness Changes

The W1 main wiring schematics cover old and new gasoline harnesses and the diesel layout. For gasoline vehicles, the new harness starts at 2WD S.N. 020348 and 4WD S.N. 020079.

Separate cranking-circuit tests address operator-on-seat and operator-off-seat conditions. Connector pin locations, wire-color codes, and seat-delay/off-delay module references help trace a no-start fault using the correct circuit for the vehicle's serial number.

Transaxle and MFWD Repair

The synchronized five-speed transaxle section pairs exploded component views with shaft disassembly, countershaft shim selection, and ring-gear backlash checks. MFWD clutch service identifies the JDG1336 spanner wrench and provides a Clutch Spring Plate Orientation view.

Drive-train troubleshooting addresses front-wheel lockup when changing from reverse to forward, including the possibility of clutch lockup when the vehicle is still moving or on an incline.

Hydraulic Testing and Steering Service

The Standard Hydraulic System Schematic and Hydraulic System Schematic with Auxiliary Kit show the different plumbing arrangements. One pump-flow test covers vehicles through S.N. 030000 and later vehicles with the auxiliary hydraulic kit; a separate setup applies from S.N. 030001 without that kit.

The Steering Hydraulic Schematic supports steering control unit (SCU) and steering-cylinder diagnosis. SCU coverage includes removal and installation; internal overhaul is outside this manual's scope.
