Hydraulic Fault Isolation and Swing Cylinder Repair

The symptom index, Hydraulic System Test Record and Test Pattern Analysis Chart connect test results with likely faults. They support a diagnostic sequence for distinguishing pump supply problems from control valve or cylinder leakage before choosing the assembly to dismantle.

Injection pump scope: On-machine Roosa-Master JDB diagnosis and timing are covered here. Detailed injection pump and nozzle service is referred to the separate SM-2045 manual, which is not included. Pump mounting and drive illustrations accompany the procedures provided here.

The separation procedures lead into component repair rather than stopping at removal. Reverser pressure tests precede teardown, and the spiral bevel gear tooth-pattern illustration supports differential adjustment.

Wiring References and Assembly Cautions

The Electrical Schematic and Component Wiring Diagram accompany circuit testing and identify connections between electrical components. Charging, starting and ignition sections provide component tests and repair procedures.

The manual flags assembly errors with direct consequences: incorrect injection pump drive alignment can leave timing half a turn out, while inadequate screw engagement during tapered backhoe pin removal can damage the pin threads.

Heavy-component work requires suitable lifting and support equipment, and hydraulic disconnection requires the accumulator to be discharged as specified in the manual.

Selected Valve Clearance and Assembly Torque Examples

Valve clearance: Intake valve clearance is 0.014 inch for both gasoline and diesel engines, with adjustment permitted hot or cold.

Assembly torque: The rear axle retaining cap screw is specified at 55 ft-lbs; engine-to-clutch housing fasteners are specified at 250 ft-lbs.
