Engine, Carburetor, and Lubrication

Fuel-system procedures cover the throttle valve and jet needle, float and needle valve, jets, and carburetor passages. The specification table distinguishes Mikuni VM16 carburetors for other markets from SW 18 mm manual-choke units for the American market.

Engine repair focuses on the cylinder head, cylinder, piston, and rings. Inspection data covers cylinder taper and out-of-round, head warpage, piston pins, and connecting-rod small ends. Crankshaft overhaul procedures are not included.

The oil-pump section explains cable-controlled delivery and oil-supply faults. It warns that insufficient lubrication can score the cylinder and piston. Piston-ring installation cautions also address damage caused by spreading the rings too far.

RXL 90R Shifting and Gearbox

The RXL 90R has dedicated documentation for the C.D.I.-controlled shift motor, F/N1/R/N2 sensors, shift spring, and shift gear. Exploded shift-mechanism and gearbox drawings identify the reverse shaft, shift drum, and forks.

The transmission section distinguishes belt, roller, and clutch-related drive problems from faults in the reverse model's shift controls. Reverse-gear lubrication is also identified separately from routine gear-oil maintenance.

Steering, Brakes, and Chassis

The RXL 50M has no front brakes and uses a separate rear parking brake. Front drum-brake procedures apply to the other four models; rear hydraulic disc service includes disc and pad wear checks.

Steering inspection includes shaft bushings, bearings, tie-rod ball joints, and kingpin bushing limits. Front and rear suspension checks appear in the maintenance schedule, while handling troubleshooting covers swingarm and pivot-bushing faults.
