Repair Notes and Safety

Several manual-specific cautions matter during repair. The 3.5L VCT housings must be fully seated on their locating dowels before tightening; an incorrectly seated housing can cause severe engine damage. After 6F50 solenoid-body replacement, the identification and strategy must match the PCM and the prescribed drive cycle must be completed, or transaxle damage and erratic shifting can result.

Front halfshafts must be supported by the interconnecting shaft rather than carried by a CV joint. Overplunging, excessive pulling, or dropping the assembly can damage the joint or cut a boot internally without leaving obvious external evidence.

SRS, refrigerant, fuel-pressure, brake, and powertrain repair requires the depowering, recovery, pressure-release, lifting, and support procedures specified in the manuals. Work on these systems should be performed only with the correct equipment and training for the system being serviced.
