Later coverage is confined to individual bulletins: 07-18-2 applies to specified 2005-2007 4.0L/4.6L coupes but excludes GT500 and convertibles, while 08-3-4 addresses certain 2005-2008 cars built before its stated cutoff. There is no 2009 or 2010 model-specific workshop material in the set. TSB 08-1-9 is a 5.4L 3V spark-plug bulletin for listed Ford/Lincoln truck and SUV applications, not the Mustang.

Engine Repair Limits, Service Tools, and Reference Data

The 4.0L material includes a standalone engine disassembly sequence and separate cylinder-head and piston subassembly repair pages; it does not supply a matching, continuous full-engine assembly chapter. The 4.6L coverage is limited to removal, support, valve-cover, and in-vehicle camshaft work rather than a full internal teardown. Named tools include the 4.0L camshaft holding/timing set 303-564, 303-571, 303-573, 303-577, and 303-578; 4.6L timing-chain wedge 303-1175 and valve-spring compressor 303-1039; engine support kit 303-F072; WDS/VCM diagnostics; and transmission fluid equipment 307-D465 and 307-437.

Reference pages supply component-specific torque and tightening sequences, approved materials and fluids, brake inspection limits, transmission level and cooler-service data, and connector-level voltage/resistance specifications. Timing and Transmission Repair Cautions

The 4.6L camshaft pages warn that a displaced timing-chain wedge forces front-cover removal and complete retiming; losing the chain-to-phaser index can damage valves and pistons. The automatic-transmission section likewise calls out the directional in-line filter: installing it against return flow can cause internal transmission damage.

Use the support and lifting equipment specified for engine work, and follow the applicable system-specific safety procedures before SRS, brake, refrigerant, or live-circuit repair.
