TM1402 also divides injection-pump and electronic engine-control diagnosis into Bosch, John Deere, and Nippondenso types, helping the technician select the correct schematic and test routine.

Crop-handling repair runs from the feeder house to the grain tank. Procedures cover conveyor chains, front drum, upper shaft and slip clutch, variable-speed drives, reverser gearcase, platform driveshafts, tilt cylinder and frame, and CONTOUR MASTER components. TM1402S is the May 1995 supplement to the 1994 revisions of TM1401 and TM1402. It adds focused material for the hydrostatic system, hydraulic solenoid-control valve stack, cab, CONTOUR MASTER feeder house, cleaning shoe, upper clean-grain elevator, and selected electrical systems.

Complete internal engine overhaul is outside this four-publication set. John Deere directs engine-component repair to CTM4 for the 6359, CTM8 for the 6068, and CTM6 or CTM42 for the 6076 according to engine serial range. Full cam-lobe four-wheel-drive motor repair requires CTM19; cutting platforms, corn heads, and row-crop heads are covered in TM1581. These references matter when a job extends beyond machine-side removal, installation, testing, or adjustment.

Factory Specifications, Tools, and Safe Handling

Repair and diagnostic groups provide component specifications, torque tables, pressure-test data, fluid and coolant capacities, wear limits, adjustment information, and electrical test values. Listed specialty tools include the JDG-23 engine lifting sling, JDG-699 brake setting gauge, and JDG351 hydrostatic seal remover.

Several cautions are assembly-specific.
