The collection combines separate two-stroke service references with a four-stroke base manual and supplement. Yamaha specifies using the F30TRZ/F30A supplement with the included F40B manual for complete service information.

Match the publication to the engine’s model designation and identification table. The F40B and F30TRZ/F30A sections cover a different engine family from the two-stroke manuals.

Text Search, Bookmarks and Wiring Detail

Search and navigation: PDF text search is available in the opening 25J/30D/25X/30X manual and the final F30TRZ color wiring diagram. The intervening publications do not have searchable text. Embedded bookmarks identify the main publications and many sections, but a duplicate index contains incorrect destinations. Small wiring labels require zooming; lettering in some older diagrams remains grainy.

The download is one printable, 1,164-page PDF containing all seven publications. The individual totals above include their covers, introductory material and closing pages where present. One blank page within the C25V/C30V section and the final F30TRZ color wiring diagram are already included in the total.

Powerhead, Gearcase and Trim-System Service

The following highlights are a selection of the contents, rather than a complete table of contents. Other topics include predelivery checks and start-in-gear protection adjustment.

• Powerhead repair: Step-by-step removal, disassembly, inspection and reassembly procedures, including pistons, crankshafts, bearings, reed valves and recoil starters in the applicable two-stroke manuals.

• Fuel and oil injection: Carburetor overhaul, linkage adjustment, fuel enrichment valve checks, oil injection pump inspection and oil-pump link adjustment.

• Lower-unit service: Water-pump repair, gear and shaft inspection, shim selection, forward and reverse gear backlash measurement, and gearcase leakage checks.

• Bracket and PTT units: Steering and clamp-bracket service, tilt-cylinder work, pump and motor inspection, hydraulic filling and air-bleeding procedures for equipped models.

Yamaha wrote these publications primarily for dealers and trained mechanics with an understanding of the mechanical and electrical concepts involved in service and repair.

Carburetion and Powerhead Inspection

The opening manual distinguishes premix and oil-injection configurations, manual and electric starting systems, and PTT-equipped variants. Its carburetor data also separates the upper, middle and lower pilot-screw settings on the 30 hp models, rather than applying one setting across all three carburetors.

Powerhead inspection extends beyond an exploded parts view. It includes cylinder measurements, piston-to-cylinder clearance, ring inspection, crankshaft alignment, reed-valve checks and thermostat testing. Job instruction charts and dimensional drawings accompany the relevant assemblies.

The ignition-timing section identifies a specific cooling-system repair trap: turning the flywheel in the wrong direction can reverse the water-pump impeller blades and reduce pump performance.

Gearcase Setup and Hydraulic Repair

Lower-unit shimming procedures distinguish USA/Canada tooling from the method used for other markets. The documented measuring arrangements and shim calculations support gearcase setup after internal repair.

The opening manual identifies tools such as backlash indicator YB-6265/90890-06706 and tilt-cylinder wrench YB-06175-2B/90890-06544. Its PTT coverage extends to the tilt rod, free piston, pump housing, gear pump and motor. Follow the manual’s electrical isolation and hydraulic-pressure precautions when working on these assemblies.

Electrical Tests and Four-Stroke Differences

Exploded-view diagrams and test charts support workshop planning by showing the components, measuring equipment and inspection criteria involved before disassembly begins. For example, the opening manual specifies a peak-voltage adapter and test harness for ignition diagnosis, helping distinguish coil and CDI-related faults.

Illustrations include the ignition control system diagram, charging system diagram, PTT control circuit and variant-specific wiring diagrams. The 30U manual adds a remote-control-box wiring diagram, while the supplement includes a color F30TRZ wiring diagram.

The F40B manual provides separate four-stroke procedures for camshaft and valve work, valve-guide replacement, valve-seat refacing and main-bearing selection using clearance measurements. The F30TRZ/F30A supplement supplies revised carburetor, cylinder-head and enrichment-control information for use alongside that base manual.

A Preview of Powerhead Assembly and Inspection Data

In the 25J/30D/25X/30X manual, cylinder-head tightening is specified in two stages: 15 Nm, then 28 Nm. The specified spark-plug gap is 0.9–1.0 mm.

Powerhead inspection data also includes a piston-to-cylinder clearance of 0.040–0.045 mm. These examples belong to the opening publication; the other manuals retain their own model-specific specifications.
