Several assembly cautions are specific to this machine. The secondary sheave ring nut must not be removed until the spring compressor is installed, because the loaded sheave can release abruptly. CVT belt and sheave contact surfaces must stay free of grease or oil, and the timing chain must be supported during top-end work so it cannot drop into or become trapped in the crankcase. When crankcase or bevel-gear components are replaced, the manual calls for washer readjustment and another backlash/contact check; incorrect setup can accelerate gear wear or binding.
