Valve Lash and Cooling Pressure Preview

On the 5.9L Cummins, the valve lash chart separates acceptable inspection ranges from reset targets. If adjustment is required, the targets are 0.010 in. intake and 0.020 in. exhaust, with coolant below 140°F.

The cooling-system leak test specifies 15 psi at normal engine operating temperature. The manual explains how to interpret a slow pressure loss versus a rapid drop and provides separate checks for suspected internal leaks.
