K96WG variants RHEL6 and RHER6 combine the 6G72 SOHC MPI gasoline engine with the V4A51 4WD 4A/T; NHEL6 and NHER6 use the V5MT1 4WD 5M/T. The K94W NUFL6/NUFR6 and K94WG NHFL6/NHFR6 configurations have the 4D56 fuel-injected diesel and V5MT1 4WD 5M/T.

The 2002 model table distinguishes Step II diesels—K94W NUPFL6/NUPFR6 and K94WG NHPFL6/NHPFR6—from Step III versions carrying NUFL6/NUFR6 and NHFL6/NHFR6. Separate left-hand- and right-hand-drive layouts and equipment qualifiers apply; optional circuits do not apply to every vehicle.

What Changed Across the Supplements

2000 supplement: Issued August 1999, it marks RHEL6 and RHER6 as new variants. Changes cover INVECS-II automatic-transmission controls and their associated ECU and harness connections. Body-electrical additions include keyless entry, the glove-box lamp, motor antenna with antenna-length sensor, and an additional accessory socket.

Component charts identify A/T fluid-temperature and shaft-speed sensors, the hazard-warning and A/T control relays, the A/T control solenoid-valve assembly, and the sunroof-circuit diode.

Harness change tables record added and discontinued connectors, revised colors and terminal counts, and relocated washer motors, fog-lamp and defogger relays, and engine-oil-level relays. These references help match the diagram to the fitted hardware before electrical diagnosis or repair.

2001 supplement: Front and rear oxygen sensors for both banks, revised gasoline engine-ECU connectors, and changes to the 4WD-indicator-ECU power supply are documented.
