THE LIFETIMEs OF THE GRIZZLY
The Grizzly 600 led as the king of the 4x4s for 4 years. In that time, user groups jumped up all over the country. The whole sport of mud-buggying thrived, and soon events like the Highlifter ATV Mud Nationals introduced into being. Today, it’s not uncommon to see 14,000 attendees at a mud event, and the growth of the sport can be accredited in large part to the Griz. We have Yamaha Grizzly 660 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 Manual Download here. The manual is very comprehensive to guide you on the maintenance requirement.
As decent as that first Grizzly was, it had limitations that were instantaneously apparent. The biggest was its suspension. The original Grizzly featured swingarm rear suspension and MacPherson struts in front. Polaris featured fully independent suspension and Suzuki came with double A-arms all the way around its new KingQuad 500. There was no time to be sluggish. So in 2002, the Grizzly 660 was presented on the heels of its sport stablemate, the 2001 Raptor 660. It had almost the same top end as the Raptor—a 5-valve, liquid-cooled affair with a large boost in power. Yamaha offered the Grizzly a push-button front differential lock and better instrumentation. But just as vital as the technical attention, Yamaha provided the Grizzly a new appearance.
