Cooling-System Tests and Water-Pump Service

The 250’s impeller has a left-hand thread; the manual flags this detail because treating it as a conventional thread risks thread damage. It also warns that silicate-inhibited coolant can cause premature water-pump seal wear and obstruct radiator passages.

Linked Brakes, Steering, and Bodywork

The brake chapter separates the front circuit from the combination-brake circuit, including its delay valve and bleeding procedures. The 500 receives additional coverage for its parking-brake caliper, cable adjustment, and lever linkage.

Wheel-bearing replacement and steering-stem service accompany front and rear chassis inspections. Suspension coverage includes fork removal and installation and rear shock absorber inspection and replacement; internal damper rebuilding is outside this coverage.

Frame-cover, body-panel, and exhaust-muffler procedures identify fasteners, connectors, and access points needed for subsequent service work.

Charging, Ignition, and Starting Faults

Charging-circuit and starting-circuit drawings support component tests and connector checks. The weak-battery flowchart separates current leakage, alternator-coil, wiring, and regulator/rectifier checks, helping narrow a charging fault before parts are replaced.

These figures are a small selection of the fastening and engine-check specifications included in the manual.

Drive-face nut torque is 135 N·m for the XCITING 500 and 93 N·m for the XCITING 250, with oil applied to the threads and seating surface as specified in the installation procedure.

The XCITING 250 compression-test reference is 15 kgf/cm² with the engine at normal operating temperature and the throttle fully open. The maintenance section specifies a spark-plug gap of 0.6–0.7 mm for both models.
