Engine Inspection and Cooling-System Work

The engine sections pair component inspections with crankcase, crankshaft and piston illustrations. Reference data covers piston-ring clearances, crankshaft runout, connecting-rod play and component-specific tightening requirements.

Recoil-starter coverage extends to rope, pawl and spring inspection, reassembly and spring preloading. The cooling chapter includes a coolant-flow diagram, heat-exchanger replacement coverage and filler-cap testing with cooling-system tester YU-22460-01.

The water-pump instructions flag the impeller’s left-hand thread, an important precaution against damage during removal and installation. Because snowmobile service involves pressurized coolant and heavy components, proper support and safe pressure relief remain necessary.

Carburetor Differences and Altitude Tuning

The EX570L material documents the Mikuni B44-36, while the EX570M/EX570EM section covers the VM-38. Their jetting tables and float-setting procedures are separate; the HP/EHP supplement adds its own VM-38 settings.

Vacuum-gauge synchronization, fuel-flow guidance and main-jet selection charts support carburetor evaluation. Altitude and temperature charts are accompanied by clutch-setting data and gear-ratio charts, allowing fuel and drivetrain settings to be considered together.

The tuning cautions explain that operating without the intake silencer and air chamber can create a lean mixture and cause severe engine damage.

Sheave, Suspension and Brake Details

Clutch coverage includes weights, rollers, bushings, spring positions and secondary-sheave offset adjustment. The HP/EHP supplement adds primary-sheave inspection criteria and assembly details for its different components.

A Preview of Piston Clearance and Oil-Pump Settings

The engine tables specify piston-to-cylinder clearance of 0.070–0.075 mm for EX570L and EX570M/EX570EM. The EX570HP/EX570EHP supplement lists 0.085–0.090 mm, distinguishing its piston specification from the earlier data.

Oil-pump specifications include a minimum stroke of 0.15–0.20 mm. The service chapters provide measurement illustrations and shim-adjustment procedures alongside that setting.
