Honda identifies the engine as a water-cooled inline four with a chain-driven DOHC 16-valve cylinder head, a wet multi-plate clutch, and a six-speed constant-mesh transmission. Oil-pump, cooling-system, clutch, alternator, cylinder-head, and cylinder/piston work can be handled with the engine in the frame. Crankshaft, connecting-rod, and transmission repair require engine removal and crankcase separation.
