Detailed fork and rear-shock race setup is assigned to the separate tuning manual. Because the fork can retain air pressure and the shock reservoir contains high-pressure nitrogen, those assemblies require the pressure-handling precautions stated in the manual before repair work begins.

CDI Fault Isolation and Factory References

Selected Carburetor and Ignition Test Specifications

For the VM40SS, float height is specified as 20.1 ± 1.0 mm, measured with the carburetor inverted from the float-chamber mating surface, gasket removed, to the float-arm tip.

The CDI magneto specifications list source-coil resistance as 310 Ω ± 10% between Brown and Black, and pickup-coil resistance as 12.4 Ω ± 10% between Black and White/Red. Both values apply at 20°C (68°F).
