This is Yamaha’s dealer-level service manual for the original FX SHO platform, not an owner’s manual. The opening material identifies the primary ID, engine serial, jet-pump serial, and hull identification number locations, then provides Yamaha’s special-service-tool inventory for measuring, electrical diagnosis, engine work, and jet-pump repair. Useful entries include the YDIS connecting kit 60V-85300-04, air-cooler attachment 90890-06731, camshaft wrench 90890-06724, flywheel puller 90890-06723, and drive-shaft holder 90890-06520. US/Canada tool numbers and corresponding 90890-series numbers are shown where applicable.
The power-unit chapter follows the engine from removal and alignment through muffler and exhaust service, air-cooler and supercharger removal, intake disassembly, dual scavenge/feed oil-pump drive work, camshaft timing, valve-clearance adjustment, valve-guide and valve-seat repair, cylinder-head installation, generator-cover and flywheel service, oil-pan disassembly, and internal crankcase repair. The manual also flags repair traps that matter in the shop. It warns that installing injector O-rings dry can twist or break them and create a fuel leak, and that reversed battery leads during relay testing can seriously damage the main and fuel-pump relay. Engine lifting, fuel-system work, electrical cranking tests, and rotating jet-pump repair should be performed only with the Yamaha safety precautions and the required service knowledge.
