Repair Scope and Service Cautions
This is an engine-performance and electrical diagnostic manual, not a complete BRM engine mechanical repair manual. Complete component-location coverage, removal and installation work, torque specifications, and full wiring diagrams are not contained here; the text directs the reader to separate system articles and wiring-diagram material. It does not replace the engine-mechanical publication for timing work, cylinder-head repair, internal engine service, turbocharger replacement, or transmission teardown.
Several cautions are specific to the test work in this PDF. Improvised back-probing with nails or paper clips can spread or damage connector terminals and can harm the connected component; the publication calls for proper test leads. DFI and glow-plug wiring or test equipment must be connected and disconnected with the ignition switched off because incorrect handling can damage ECM J248. Fuel circuits must be depressurized and kept clean before they are opened, and static charge should be discharged before touching transmission electrical components to avoid control-system faults.
