  • Documented model coverage: 2001 FZS1000(N) and FZS1000N/FZS1000NC; 2003 FZS1000(R) and FZS10R/FZS10SPR/FZS10RC/FZS10SPRC updates; 2006 FZ1-N(V), FZ1-S(V), FZS10V, and FZS10VC; and 2007 FZ1-N(W), FZ1-S(W), and FZ1-SA. The publications distinguish European, Oceania/Australian, North American, California, naked, faired, and ABS configurations.
  • PDF set size and identity: Nine files totaling 2,678 PDF pages. One 394-page North American FZS1000N/FZS1000NC base manual is duplicated under a second filename, leaving eight non-identical PDFs totaling 2,284 pages.
  • Carbureted FZS1000 repair coverage: Includes carburetor removal, inspection and reassembly, carburetor synchronization, throttle-position-sensor checking and adjustment, EXUP cable and servo checks, fuel-pump diagnosis, and the changed 2003 specifications and routing data. The 2003 publications are supplements and must be used with the corresponding 2001 base manual.
  • Fuel-injected FZ1 repair and diagnosis: Covers fuel-pump operation and pressure testing, injector and throttle-body inspection, throttle-body synchronization, throttle-position and sub-throttle-position sensor adjustment, sub-throttle servo checks, ECU diagnostic mode, fault-code tables, and immobilizer troubleshooting and key-code registration where fitted.
  • Engine and drivetrain work: Details engine removal, camshaft and timing-system service, cylinder-head and valve repair, clutch and starter-clutch inspection, oil-pump and lubrication-system service, crankcase separation and assembly, crankshaft and connecting-rod inspection, and transmission repair.
  • Chassis and ABS systems: Provides wheel, brake, fork, steering-head, rear-suspension, swingarm, and chain-drive procedures. FZ1-SA coverage adds wheel-sensor and sensor-rotor maintenance, ABS hydraulic-unit removal, installation and operation testing, warning-light diagnosis, stored and current fault checks, malfunction-code deletion, final checks, and the trial-run section.
  • Factory reference material: Supplies exploded job diagrams, model-specific cable and hose routing, system circuit diagrams, full wiring diagrams, torque tables, fluid-capacity data, pressure-test specifications, wear and clearance limits, electrical test values, and Yamaha special-tool numbers.

How the Set Is Organized

The full 2001, 2006, and 2007 workshop manuals use Yamaha’s nine-chapter format, moving from identification and specifications through maintenance, chassis, engine, cooling, fuel delivery, electrical diagnosis, and troubleshooting. The first-generation books devote the fuel chapter to carburetors, while the later publications document electronically controlled fuel injection.

The 2006 European/Australian manual identifies model codes 2D11, 2D13, 3C31, 3C33, 3C37, and 3C39. The North American 2006 book identifies 3C34 for the U.S. model and 3C35 for the California version. The 2007 publication separates FZ1-N/FZ1-S codes 2D14-2D16 and 3C3A-3C3C from the FZ1-SA ABS codes 5D01 and 5D02.

The 5D0-28197-E0 title page and its model-specific wiring diagrams identify it as a 2007 publication. This set does not contain separate Yamaha manuals or addenda for 2008, 2009, 2010, or 2011, so the filename wording “07-11” should not be treated as factory-stated model-year coverage.

Repair depth goes well beyond maintenance schedules. Removal and disassembly sections begin with exploded assembly views and job charts, followed by inspection, repair, reassembly, adjustment, and final-check information. In the 2007 ABS material, mechanical service and electrical fault isolation are deliberately split: the chassis chapter handles the hydraulic unit and its operation tests, while the electrical chapter provides the ABS circuit diagram, component and connector-location charts, warning-light checks, self-diagnosis, code-based troubleshooting, and post-repair verification.

Diagrams, Special Tools, and Repair Cautions

Representative illustrations include the engine-oil lubrication chart, cooling-system diagrams, carburetor and throttle-body exploded views, FI circuit and self-diagnostic tables, ABS component and connector-location charts, and full regional wiring diagrams. Dedicated routing sheets distinguish FZ1-N, FZ1-S, and FZ1-SA layouts, including the ABS breather hose, wheel-sensor leads, brake hoses, immobilizer wiring, EXUP cables, and FI harness connections.

The special-tool sections provide Yamaha numbers and, where supplied, U.S./Canada equivalents. Examples include the vacuum synchronizer 90890-03094 / YU-44456, fork-seal driver 90890-01442 / YM-01442, and universal clutch holder 90890-04086 / YM-91042.

Several manual-specific cautions matter during repair. The FI fuel-pipe connector is intended to be handled by hand, kept free of contamination at the sealing section, and secured with its double lock; tool damage or trapped debris can lead to leakage. The FZ1-SA ABS sections warn that wheel sensors and the hydraulic unit are sensitive to dirt and impact, and that incorrect front/rear brake-hose connections or skipped post-service checks can compromise braking.

Secure the motorcycle on a stable stand, isolate the battery before electrical or fuel-system teardown, and follow Yamaha’s brake-fluid, fuel-system, and ABS precautions whenever a hydraulic or pressurized circuit is opened.
