Engine repair is documented at assembly level. Top-end coverage handles the camshafts and timing chain, cylinder head, valves, guides and seats, cylinder, piston, and rings. Electrical coverage is specific to the competition machine. The wiring diagram identifies the CDI unit, CDI magneto, ignition coil, spark plug, throttle-position sensor, neutral switch, and engine-stop button, with component locations and color codes. A map-controlled CDI diagram explains how engine speed and throttle position determine ignition timing. The fault-isolation section covers no-spark diagnosis, spark-gap checks, ignition-coil testing, source-coil and pickup-coil resistance checks, and timing verification. It is an ignition/TPS/engine-stop reference, not a street-bike lighting or charging-system manual.

Keihin FCR39H tuning is organized by circuit rather than reduced to one generic jetting number. Coverage includes the main and pilot systems, pilot screw, main and pilot air jets, needle diameter and clip position, atmospheric-condition corrections, interchangeable setting parts, and symptom-based checks. The two editions retain their own year and regional baselines; this matters because model codes and oil-service quantities are not identical between the 1998 and 1999 books.
