Mazda MPV 2000–2002 Service Manual Collection

The mechanical articles, component tests, and wiring sheets work together as references for fault tracing and repair planning. Shared Mazda articles contain model-specific branches; use the MPV procedures and specifications.

Coverage limits: This is a system-by-system article collection, not a complete single-volume factory manual. The main vehicle headings identify 2001 MPV LX and ES applications, with selected 2000–01 coverage and separate 2002 MPV shift-interlock wiring. The two security/door-lock exports overlap.

Engine Repair and Mechanical Inspection

The mechanical section provides step-by-step procedures for engine removal, cylinder-head removal and installation, timing-chain work, and water-pump replacement. Camshaft, rocker-arm, hydraulic lash adjuster, crankshaft-seal, oil-pan, oil-pump, and oil-cooler service is also covered.

Internal inspection: Piston and connecting-rod checks, piston-ring clearances, crankshaft measurements, and main-bearing selection data support assessment of dismantled components. Cylinder-head coverage includes valve guides and valve-seat inspection and correction. Valve-guide service identifies remover 303-346 and installer components 303-469 and 303-346.

The oil-pan section flags a specific repair hazard: sealant left on bolts or in cylinder-block bolt holes can crack the block during reassembly. Oil-pump removal and installation are documented, but internal oil-pump inspection information is outside this collection’s coverage.

Engine Controls and EVAP Fault Tracing

The engine-performance articles cover Intake Manifold Runner Control (IMRC), idle-air control, EGR operation, fuel-injector output, and PCM power and ground checks. Sensor testing addresses camshaft and crankshaft position, mass airflow/intake-air temperature, and heated oxygen sensors.

EVAP diagnosis: Scan-tool leak tests, separate canister-to-purge and canister-to-tank checks, and fuel-tank pressure graphing help narrow the area of a leak before components are replaced. Identifying EVAP System Graph Patterns compares normal operation with large- and small-leak faults.
