Engine Repair and Fuel-System Limits

Step-by-step instructions cover cylinder-head removal, valve-seat grinding, piston and connecting-rod service, crankshaft/main-bearing inspection, and camshaft work. Compression, leakdown, valve-clearance and lubrication-system checks provide the related inspection data, alongside metric and inch fastener torque tables.

Troubleshooting charts cover starting faults, overheating and low engine output.

The fuel-injection-nozzle cross section and D01109AA nozzle-tester references support nozzle service. Injection-pump scope: Removal and installation are reserved for authorized factory-trained technicians; internal pump/governor service requires a qualified fuel-injection shop. Factory injection timing is not a field adjustment.

Turbocharger coverage includes seven-step inspection, rotor-play and wastegate tests, removal and prelubrication. Replacement is by a complete remanufactured assembly; individual repair components are not available.

Disturbing the injection-pump gear-to-hub screws loses factory timing; the manual calls for engine replacement if the hub or gear is damaged. Hot shutdowns can damage turbocharger bearings as the oil supply stops.

ECM Checks and Wiring References

The nine-sheet Main Electrical Schematic includes alternator charging, starter cranking and interlock circuits. Main Wiring Harness (W2) views and Electronic Control Module Input and Output Identification show connector terminals and wire codes alongside the circuit tests.

ECM status indications, input LEDs and output fault codes support electrical fault tracing. WEATHER PACK and METRI-PACK terminal repair procedures address damaged connections.

Hydrostatic Diagnosis, Lift and Steering

Four-wheel drive is available as a kit for the 3225C, a factory option for the 3235C, and standard equipment on the 3245C. Wheel-motor procedures cover Eaton front units and Parker rear units, with separate hydrostatic-pump sections for the mechanical and servo-controlled systems.

Hydrostatic schematics show neutral and forward operation; model-specific Hydraulic Schematics and JIC symbols trace the mower, lift and steering circuits. Pressure, flow and case-drain tests help distinguish pump-output problems from motor leakage before disassembly. Tool references include the JDG2033 pressure-gage kit and D01074AA flow meter.

Neutral-position adjustments address machine creep, including checks for worn or binding linkage. Lift-cylinder, lift-valve and SCU procedures extend the repair coverage beyond the drive pumps.

Because escaping high-pressure hydraulic fluid can penetrate the skin and cause severe injury, relieve system pressure before disconnecting lines and consult a qualified technician if the work exceeds your experience.

Reel, Conditioner and Rotary-Deck Work

Attachment procedures distinguish 22-In. Heavy Duty and 2500M reel units from the rotary decks. They cover reel/bed-knife grinding, roller and bearing service, vertical cutting units, Fairway Tender Conditioners, and power brushes. Rotary-deck work includes blade sharpening and balancing, roller repair and spindle service.

The linked tests and illustrated repair procedures support in-house servicing across the engine, drivetrain and cutting units. Separate front and rear mower-circuit diagnostics help distinguish individual motor faults from shared electrical or lift-system problems.

A Preview of Engine Clearances and Nozzle Tests

For internal Yanmar engine work, piston-to-cylinder-head clearance is 0.72 ± 0.06 mm, with a dedicated measurement procedure in the cylinder-head repair section.

Fuel-injection-nozzle bench-test data specify an opening pressure of 21,600–22,600 kPa. Separate procedures assess leakage, chatter and spray pattern, with tester and adapter references identified alongside the checks.
