Engine, Fuel, and Cooling Repair

Engine configurations: The X700 uses the Kawasaki FD671D with a two-barrel carburetor; the other covered models use the Kawasaki FD750D with electronic fuel injection. Both engines are liquid-cooled; fuel pressure testing and intake system procedures distinguish the two configurations.

Internal repair extends to camshaft/tappet and connecting-rod inspection, crankcase cover service, and oil-pump inspection. The cylinder head section warns that an incorrect bolt removal sequence can warp the head.

Cooling diagnosis includes a radiator bubble test for combustion leakage into the cooling system, radiator cap pressure testing, and fan and water pump/alternator belt adjustments.

Electrical Circuits and EFI Diagnosis

Tests distinguish the standard charging system from the optional auxiliary alternator. EFI diagnosis covers display codes and separate checks for the injectors, fuel-injection module, and air temperature, coolant temperature, and vacuum pressure sensors.

The PTO repair instructions warn that tightening a misaligned cover into place with its bolts can damage the cover or transaxle case.

Hydraulic testing: The Hydraulic Schematic - Power Train accompanies separate tests at the charge pump and implement couplers. These help distinguish a weak pump from a steering valve, control valve, or lift cylinder fault that can distort a coupler test result.

Steering, Brakes, and Chassis

Front-wheel and all-wheel steering sections cover axle pivots and rear/intermediate linkages. Brake/Differential Linkage (Exploded) supports brake and parking-brake diagnosis and adjustment.

Mower Decks, 45 Loader, and PTO Generator

Mower decks: Model-specific spindle procedures detail bearing and seal installation, with additional drive shaft and gearbox service. Damaged mower gearbox gears require replacement of the gearbox assembly.

45 Loader: Coverage includes hydraulic diagnosis, latch rod adjustment, cylinder leakage testing, lubrication, and installation of the required transaxle relief valve. A full loader overhaul is outside this manual's scope.

PTO generator: The Standard Electrical Schematic accompanies stator, rotor, GFCI, and grounding tests. Repair extends to excitation field restoration, rotor bearings, the gear case, and the control panel.
