2000–2004 John Deere 410G Backhoe Loader Technical Repair Manual (P/N TM1882)

This technical repair manual covers the 2000–2004 John Deere 410G Backhoe Loader. John Deere publication TM1882, dated 26MAR04, documents component repairs with separate procedures for several serial-number-dependent configurations.

• Axles and brakes: Front-axle removal, rear-axle teardown, reduction-gear assembly, park-brake repair, service-brake inspection, pedal adjustment and bleeding.

Axle Variants and Powershift Repair

Rear-axle sections cover shaft removal, reduction gears, pinion-bearing rolling drag, park-brake shim calculations and illustrated gear-tooth contact checks. Component-specific torque tables and wear limits accompany the repair procedures.

Serial breaks: Park-brake procedures split at 902685/902686; non-powered front-axle and steering-valve work splits at 911131/911132. Matching these sections to the machine helps avoid applying the wrong assembly procedure.

The clutch chapters distinguish waved and flat disks; mixing them can cause drag, overheating and clutch-pack failure. The differential instructions also warn that incorrect thrust-washer orientation can interrupt lubrication and cause differential failure.

Tooling includes the JDG1056 axle spanner nut wrench and a fabrication drawing for the DFT1146 axle mounting bracket, helping technicians prepare the axle tooling before teardown.

The torque converter has no internal service parts; coverage concerns removal, inspection and replacement. MS-2025 MFWD axle and steering-cylinder repairs are referred to the separate CTM4687 component manual.

Engine Removal and Auxiliary Systems

Engine coverage centers on removal and installation, with procedures for the cooling, intake, exhaust, starting-aid and external fuel systems. Internal engine work and mechanical fuel-system repair require CTM104 and CTM207; those publications are not included.

Pump, Loader and Backhoe Hydraulics

Pump cross sections and repair procedures distinguish machines through 907932 from 907933 onward, including load-sense-module and flow-limiter details. Pump-flow testing is referred to the separate Operation and Test manual; the repair text specifies replacement when a pump fails that test.

Valve and control variants: Loader/stabilizer valve coverage changes at 913480, with serviceable parts on that later assembly limited to wiper rings and seals. Pilot-valve, control-tower, manifold and pattern-select-valve procedures apply from 913484.

Ride-control coverage distinguishes valve versions at 911132/911133 and includes accumulator charging and discharge. Loader and backhoe cylinder overhaul often refers to separate TMH120A/TMH125A manuals, while the extendible-dipperstick cylinder has disassembly and assembly instructions here.

Some backhoe load-sense-valve and bucket-cylinder entries retain XXXXXX serial cutoffs. Those particular entries require confirmation of the installed version before choosing the applicable instructions.

Follow the manual’s lifting, boom-support and hydraulic-pressure precautions when servicing these heavy assemblies.

Electrical References and Cab Service

Electrical coverage includes a fuse/relay layout and connector-contact illustrations. Machine wiring diagrams and harness-location drawings require the separate TM1881 Operation and Test manual; internal starter and alternator repairs are referred to CTM77.

Cab procedures extend to glazing, latch adjustments, wipers and seat suspension. The R134a section provides a refrigerant-circuit illustration, compressor oil-charge guidance and system-cleaning procedures alongside the evacuation and charging work.

Examples of Clutch Clearances and Cooling Capacity

These figures are a small selection of the specifications in the transmission and cooling sections.

For dry clutch-pack plate-clearance checks, the low-range forward and reverse packs are specified at 2.5–3.2 mm, while the third-speed pack uses 1.2–1.8 mm.

The radiator removal procedure lists an approximate cooling-system capacity of 16 L (17 qt).
