Volkswagen Jetta 2005–2008 Repair Manual Set

The repair volumes work alongside diagnostic tables and component locators that connect component checks to ECM terminals and installed locations. These references help distinguish component faults from wiring or power-supply problems before replacement.

Coverage limits: The main A5 workshop chapters cover 2005–2007. The 2008 material is an electrical component locator, not a revised mechanical manual. Selected A4 sections and the separately headed 01M electrical tests apply to their identified configurations.

PDF Text Search, Diagram Detail, and Files

Search and navigation: Most workshop text supports PDF search. Wiring-diagram labels and the Mode 6 tables are not searchable; the generic OBD-II code supplement has no text search. None of the files has embedded PDF bookmarks. Small wiring labels require zooming.

The ZIP contains 32 printable PDFs totaling 5,855 pages, including the 60 pages in the two general supplements.

Engine, Drivetrain, and Body Repair

The following selected workshop topics outline part of the set. Other included material covers cabin-filter replacement and Mode 6 monitoring references.

• Engine mechanical: Engine removal, timing-drive service, cylinder-head work, crankshaft and piston inspection, lubrication-system repair, and cooling-system service.

• Engine diagnostics: DFI and Motronic sensor checks, ECM pinout assignments, glow-plug and ignition tests, CAN-Bus diagnosis, readiness codes, and diagnostic trouble-code tables.

• Transmission repair: 0A4 and 02Q manual-transmission overhaul, 09G automatic-transmission service, and 02E DSG clutch adjustment and mechatronic replacement.

• Brakes and chassis: ABS/ESP components, caliper service, hydraulic bleeding, CV joints, wheel alignment, and electromechanical steering.

• Body and occupant protection: Welded-panel replacement, door and glass adjustment, seat repair, airbag components, and seat-belt inspection.

• Climate control: Climatic and Climatronic service, refrigerant evacuation and charging, leak detection, and circuit flushing.

BRM Injection, Timing, and Engine Diagnostics

BRM step-by-step procedures cover pump-injector removal and adjustment, seal replacement, tandem-pump testing, intake-manifold and EGR-cooler work, and turbocharger replacement.

The pump-injector section warns that incorrect unit alignment can damage both the injector and cylinder head. Timing-belt procedures distinguish T10050 and T10100 crankshaft stops for round and oval crankshaft gears.

Under Turbocharger, G-Charger, diagnostic coverage includes the Wastegate Bypass Regulator Valve N75 and charge-air-pressure sensor checks. Diesel Direct Fuel Injection Engine Control Module J248 tests address power supply, grounds, and sensor wiring, with component-specific battery and engine-state requirements.

Gasoline Injection and Valve Timing

BPY/BWA chapters add high-pressure fuel-pump and injector-seal service, camshaft adjustment, and charge-air leak testing. BGP/BGQ material covers chain-drive valve timing, injector leakage and delivery checks, and secondary-air diagnosis.

The 2.5L volume also contains separately labeled BTK EVAP and exhaust material; that limited coverage should be distinguished from the main BGP/BGQ mechanical chapters.

Gearbox Overhaul and Automatic-Transmission Service

Manual-gearbox chapters continue into input and output shafts, synchronizers, bearing adjustment, and differential shim selection, with separate Sachs and LuK clutch procedures.

DSG coverage adds oil-pump and oil-cooler replacement. Mechatronic handling cautions explain that sensor-arm damage requires replacement of the mechatronic unit.

The 09G section addresses valve-body, wiring-harness, and speed-sensor service. The A4 09A volume includes planetary-transmission disassembly and clutch-pack work.

Brake Identification and Chassis Work

Brake identification uses PR numbers and distinguishes FN3 front calipers from CII 38/CII 41 rear calipers. Suspension chapters extend into wheel-bearing and control-arm bushing replacement, with separate steering-column and electromechanical steering-gear procedures.

Body Structure and Occupant Protection

Body chapters contain separately labeled sedan and wagon procedures. Collision repair provides panel gaps, body dimensions, straightening-fixture locations, and structural section-replacement procedures.

Interior coverage includes Passenger Occupant Detection System (PODS) repair-kit installation and the related component adaptation and basic-setting requirements.

Climate Control and Scheduled Service

Climate-control chapters separate control heads, flap motors, and temperature sensors by system. R134a service material adds refrigerant-circuit preparation, flushing equipment, and component-replacement information.

Maintenance procedures cover service-display resetting and a VIN-specific intake-manifold fastening check for the 2.5L engine.

Wiring, Component References, and Diagnostic Equipment

The 2007 wiring volume contains separate 2.0L, BGP, and BGQ engine circuits. It contains no BRM engine wiring diagram; diesel electrical coverage is provided through connector views and component-test tables in the engine volumes.

Illustrations include Crankshaft Toothed Belt Gear Identification and the Charge Air Pressure Sensor G31 connector view. System schematics include Computer Data Lines Circuit, Anti-lock Brakes Circuit, W/ ESP, and Direct Shift A/T Circuit.

Torque specifications, pressure-test data, fluid capacities, and wear limits accompany the procedures. Named equipment includes VAS 5051/5052 diagnostic systems and VAS 1978 wiring-harness repair tools. Communication chapters add radio/navigation connector assignments and component adaptation.

Because working with high-pressure diesel injection and complex electrical systems carries inherent risks, these procedures must be used alongside the manual’s fuel-system, airbag, vehicle-support, and refrigerant safety precautions.

Sample BRM Coolant-Sensor Resistance Data

For the BRM engine’s radiator-mounted Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor G83, the resistance chart includes examples of 1,500–2,000 ohms at 30°C and 275–375 ohms at 80°C.

The accompanying procedure also covers wiring-continuity checks between the sensor and ECM.
