SSangyong Manual Features & Content Preview
- 2,172-page PDF containing SsangYong factory service-manual sections from ACTYON SM - 2006.03, ACTYON SPORTS SM - 2006.08, D20DT (EU IV) SM - 2006.08, G23D engine material, diagnostic sections, and a dedicated wiring supplement.
- Covers Actyon SUV and Actyon Sports pickup configurations with D20DT and D20DT Euro IV common-rail diesel engines, plus G23D gasoline-engine material; includes 2WD/4WD, manual transmission, ION (BTRA) automatic transmission, part-time transfer case, and IWE locking-hub service.
- Details major engine repair work including engine removal, cylinder-head and valve service, camshaft/HLA repair, timing-chain setting, crankshaft and bearing selection, piston and connecting-rod work, HP pump and injector service, turbo/VGT/EGR repair, cooling, lubrication, and preheating systems.
- Extends beyond the engine with repair chapters for the ION automatic and manual transmissions, clutch, transfer case, locking hubs, axles, suspension, steering, ABS/ESP, airbags, HVAC, body/deck assemblies, and vehicle electrical systems.
- Supports fault finding and electrical repair with SCAN-100 loading and reprogramming functions, module-specific DTC tables, connector and ground locations, fuse-box circuits, pin views, and LHD Euro IV wiring diagrams.
Coverage and Workshop Depth
The publication blocks are not interchangeable. The March 2006 Actyon manual provides the core SUV repair coverage, while the August 2006 material adds Actyon Sports pickup information, D20DT Euro IV changes, and separate G23D gasoline-engine chapters. The PDF is not merely a D20DT engine book; its scope reaches the drivetrain, chassis, body, climate-control, airbag, convenience, and electrical systems.
Actyon Sports material identifies pickup-specific differences rather than repeating the SUV chapters. It covers deck and body construction, chassis and electrical changes, solid-axle and LCRV information, revised TCCU material, and model-specific service data. The dedicated wiring supplement is explicitly labeled Euro IV - LHD; buyers working on an RHD or non-Euro IV vehicle should note that limitation.
Engine Service and Diagnostics
The D20DT engine chapters cover oil-leak diagnosis, compression and cylinder-leakage testing, engine removal and installation, accessory removal, internal disassembly, reassembly, and overhaul. Major assemblies include the cylinder head and valves, camshafts and hydraulic lash adjusters, timing chain and guide system, crankshaft bearings and thrust washers, dual-mass flywheel, pistons and connecting rods, high-pressure pump, common rail, injectors, lubrication system, cooling system, VGT turbocharger, EGR system, and preheating components.
The D20DT Euro IV addendum documents the changed E-EGR valve, EGR cooler, throttle body, PCV oil separator, intake manifold, fuel rail and high-pressure pipe arrangement, and injector C2I/C3I coding. Engine-control coverage includes fuel-pressure control, injection control, MDP learning, HFM and temperature sensing, camshaft and crankshaft signals, knock and boost sensing, starting/charging circuits, and SCAN-100 diagnosis and reprogramming.
The G23D sections are organized separately and cover engine assembly, mechanical repair, cooling, engine electrical, and intake/exhaust service. This keeps the gasoline procedures distinct from the D20DT common-rail material instead of treating the two engines as interchangeable.
Drivetrain, Chassis, Body, and Electrical Systems
The ION (BTRA) automatic-transmission volume includes electronic and hydraulic control descriptions, power-flow diagrams, fluid and leak diagnosis, road and garage-shift testing, on-vehicle service, valve-body work, internal disassembly and assembly, band adjustment, TCU diagnosis, connector views, and special tools. Manual-transmission chapters cover removal, installation, internal repair, inspection, and maintenance. Separate sections address the clutch, part-time transfer case, IWE locking hubs, front and rear axles, suspension, power steering, ABS/ESP, and airbag systems.
Separate body and electrical chapters cover FATC air conditioning, FFH/PTC heating, RK-STICS and immobilizer functions, wiper and rain-sensor systems, parking aid, lamps, sunroof, seats and belts, doors, tailgate, trim, deck assemblies, and structural body repair.
Electrical coverage includes more than system schematics. Named diagram groups include Starting & Charging, Preheating Circuit, G23 ECU, D20DT ECU 3.2, Diagnosis Circuit, A/T Shift Lock, TCCU, and Cluster. The same wiring volume supplies connector identification, ground points, splice information, fuse-box power-distribution circuits, and pin-number views. Diagnostic volumes cover diesel, gasoline, and CDPF engine faults as well as TCU, brake, airbag, transfer-case, RK-STICS, FFH, rain-sensor, FATC, TGS-lever, power-trunk, and CCCS faults.
Factory Data, Special Tools, and Repair Notes
Reference material includes component-specific torque tables, fluid capacities, pressure-test specifications, wear and machining limits, electrical test values, alignment and clearance data, bearing and piston selection tables, and coding or calibration information. The vehicle general sections also include scheduled maintenance charts and recommended-fluid tables for diesel and gasoline configurations. Special-tool callouts include injector puller Y99220072B, valve remover/installer Y99220082B, compression-pressure adapter and gauge Y99220092B, piston-protrusion measuring jig Y99220122B, and HLA remover Y99220152B, along with dedicated HP pump and high-pressure-pipe tools.
Common-rail fuel pipes are treated as one-time-use parts after disconnection, and exposed ports must be capped; contamination can damage the HP pump and injectors, while reused pipes can leak. Camshaft bearing caps must be unloaded evenly rather than stripped off at once, or the camshafts can be seriously damaged. The D20DT section also warns against using Loctite 5900 and against blocking the vacuum-pump oil passage with sealant.
High-pressure fuel, airbag, brake, refrigerant, and vehicle-lifting procedures require the isolation, pressure-release, and support methods specified in the manual. The depth is appropriate for technicians, independent repair shops, and experienced owners who need assembly-level procedures rather than routine maintenance alone.
