Engine Inspection and Assembly References

Valve service extends beyond clearance adjustment to valve-guide work, seat inspection, lifter identification, and decompression-system checks. Cylinder-head assembly has a specified multi-stage torque-and-angle procedure. The camshaft section warns that uneven cap-bolt tightening can damage the cylinder head, camshafts, and caps.

Lower-engine coverage includes balancer alignment, oil-pump rotor inspection, and gear and shift-fork checks. The Lubrication Diagrams trace oil delivery through the engine and transmission. Special-tool references include crankcase separator YU-1135-A / 90890-01135 and rotor puller YM-04141 / 90890-04141.

FCR Carburetor Adjustment and Tuning

Step-by-step instructions cover accelerator-pump timing and carburetor reassembly. Regional specification tables distinguish carburetor identification marks and jetting, rather than presenting one setup for every market.

The tuning chapter relates atmospheric conditions and throttle opening to mixture changes. Its symptom-based examples address poor acceleration, uneven response, and spark-plug appearance. Air-filter maintenance and hot-start control adjustment are covered separately.

Fork, Linkage and Rear-Shock Service

Front-fork procedures cover damper-rod removal, bushing and seal work, oil-level setup, and reinstallation. Fork seal driver YM-01442 / 90890-01442 is identified for seal installation. A handling caution explains that a falling damper rod can damage the valve inside the fork.

Swingarm coverage includes relay-arm and connecting-rod bearings, collars, seals, and the polylube-bearing arrangement. Suspension Setting charts connect handling symptoms with spring, oil-level, and damping considerations.

A Preview of Valve-Clearance and Magneto Data

Cold valve-clearance specifications are 0.10–0.15 mm for the intake valves and 0.20–0.25 mm for the exhaust valves. Separate intake and exhaust pad-selection tables accompany the adjustment procedures.

Electrical reference data list normal AC magneto output as 14 V/120 W at 5,000 rpm, alongside coil-resistance specifications and charging-system tests.
