Diagnostic Detail That Matters in the Bay
The MFI chapters distinguish the ECM used with manual-transmission cars from the PCM used with automatic-transmission cars. Their diagnostic routines tie connector terminals, harness checks, sensor inputs, actuator commands, and waveform inspection back to the matching circuit diagrams. The automatic-transaxle material does the same for INVECS-II controls, including fluid-temperature, crankshaft-position, throttle-position, park/neutral, solenoid, and shift-control checks. Sectional views and internal assembly drawings distinguish the F5M42/F5M51 and F4A42/F4A51 layouts before overhaul work begins.

The PDF set also does not contain the separately referenced Group 36 Parking Brake, Group 54A/54B Chassis Electrical, or the 2001 Eclipse/Eclipse Spyder Body Repair Manual named in the foreword.
The 6G72 timing-belt chapter warns that rotating a camshaft with No. 1 piston at top dead center can allow valve-to-piston contact and damage parts. The electrical section also warns against backprobing waterproof connectors or forcing test probes into terminals, since either practice can damage terminal fit, promote corrosion, and create intermittent circuit faults. Follow the manual’s SRS, fuel, lifting, and refrigerant precautions, and use qualified service support for work outside your training or equipment.
