Honda CBR125R 2004–2010 Owner’s & Common Service Manual Set (P/N 61CM000)

Use the Owner’s Manual for CBR125R operation and scheduled maintenance. The Common Service Manual explains how Honda systems work and how to test, inspect, and repair them.

CBR125R-specific overhaul procedures and service limits require a separate model-specific service manual. The CBR125R owner and workshop reference material in this set applies to the carbureted configuration.

CBR125R Upkeep and General Honda Repair

The following selected topics cover routine service and several common workshop jobs. The Owner’s Manual also explains cold starting with the choke and how to prepare the motorcycle for storage.

CBR125R Maintenance and Workshop Data

The maintenance schedule lets you plan service by mileage or time. The Owner’s Manual gives step-by-step instructions for front and rear wheel removal and installation, along with crankcase breather service and the side-stand ignition cutoff check.

Seat and middle cowl removal instructions show how to reach service points. The manual also covers brake pad wear checks, sealed battery removal, fuse and bulb replacement, coolant mixture, and reserve tank level checks.

Steam cleaning, high-pressure washing, and certain solvents can damage the drive chain’s O-rings. Coolant with silicate inhibitors can wear water pump seals prematurely or block radiator passages.

Model-specific data include lubricant requirements, fluid capacities, oil drain plug torque, individual gear ratios, tire pressures, spark plug choices, and electrical ratings. The separate 2004 workshop spec sheet identifies the CBR 125 R4, its VK6AB carburetor, and the frame reference MLHJC34A*45~. It lists jetting, float level, fork oil quantity and level, steering bearing preload, stator resistance, and peak voltage references for the pulse generator and ignition coil.

General Honda Fault Isolation and Inspection

Compression and leak-down testing help distinguish a valve sealing problem from cylinder or ring wear before teardown. Transmission inspection goes down to the gears, shift forks, and shift drum.

Sample Engine and Drive-Chain Settings

For the carbureted CBR125R, the Owner’s Manual lists cold valve clearances of 0.06 mm at the intake and 0.27 mm at the exhaust. The spark plug gap specification is 0.70–0.80 mm.

The drive-chain inspection specifies 25–35 mm of vertical slack midway along the lower run, with the motorcycle on its side stand, the engine off, and the transmission in neutral.
