- GA413 van/truck supplement coverage is split by VIN rather than by a blanket model-year range. The later supplement applies from DA32V-126001 for vans and DA32T-116001 for trucks, with the corresponding JSA/JS3/JS4 VIN formats printed in the foreword; earlier 4WD-specific service data is handled by the dedicated 4WD supplement.
- Full-time 4WD repair coverage includes front suspension diagnosis and service, front drive-shaft removal and joint/boot repair, front and rear propeller-shaft checks, AXC removal and inspection, 4WD transmission removal, transfer-case unit overhaul, and front-differential disassembly, inspection, adjustment, and reassembly.
- The 4WD transmission chapter distinguishes AXC (Axial Plunger Pump Coupling) built-in and externally mounted versions, with the built-in unit’s lock-up and two-step torque-control functions described for correct component identification before repair.
- Factory engine sections take the 16-valve SOHC inline-four through compression, vacuum, and oil-pressure testing; valve-lash and timing-belt work; cylinder-head and valve service; pistons, rods, and cylinders; oil-pump service; and complete engine, crankshaft, and cylinder-block overhaul.
- Electrical and diagnostic material provides OBD/MIL/DTC fault isolation, engine-control circuit checks, ABS/EPS/SRS and immobilizer diagnosis, plus connector layouts, ground points, power-supply diagrams, and system circuits for van/truck wiring variations.
Maintenance and Technical Coverage
The base service manual supplies the shared GA413 repair procedures, while the supplements add only the information that differs for their applicable vehicles. That relationship matters in the shop: a section omitted from a supplement is meant to be used from the base manual rather than treated as missing repair coverage. The included publications span the 1999 base service information, the October 2000 VIN-change supplement, the second-edition March 2001 4WD supplement, and the July 2002 wiring manual.
Suzuki explicitly states that this service material is intended for authorized Suzuki dealers and qualified service mechanics. Many procedures assume proper workshop tools, measuring equipment, and familiarity with unit repair. The base manual goes well beyond routine maintenance, covering brake and ABS diagnosis, electric power steering, clutch and manual transmission overhaul, rear differential work, engine-management diagnosis, body service, restraint systems, and air-bag service precautions. Service on or around SRS components is specifically restricted in the manual, and the general precautions also address fuel, hot components, electrical circuits, lifting, and other shop hazards.
4WD and VIN-Specific Service
The 4WD supplement is built around the drivetrain parts that differ from the standard GA413 layout. It identifies the front suspension and hub arrangement, constant-velocity front drive shafts, front and rear propeller shafts, the AXC coupling, transfer case, and front differential. The transfer section provides disassembly, inspection, and reassembly coverage for both AXC layouts, while the front differential chapter carries the repair through gear-contact and backlash adjustment rather than stopping at removal and replacement.
There are several useful factory cautions that show the depth of the 4WD material. Suzuki warns that incorrect towing methods on the full-time 4WD system can overheat or damage the drivetrain. The front-differential overhaul also treats the bevel gear and pinion as a matched set, which is important when evaluating gear-noise repair and replacement parts.
The 4WD unit-repair sections identify special tools by Suzuki number, including the 09922-76110 differential adjuster set, 09900-20606 dial gauge, 09913-50121 oil-seal remover, and 09924-84510 bearing-installer adapter. Related tables provide component-specific torque data, approved lubricants and sealants, fluid capacities, wear and inspection limits, clearances, and adjustment specifications.
Diagnostics, Wiring, and Shop Reference
The separate wiring manual adds more than circuit drawings. It explains connector codes and terminal numbering, ground-point identification, power-supply logic, fuse protection, connector locations, and harness routing for van and truck bodies. Representative system diagrams include the power supply diagram, engine control system with/without heated oxygen sensor #2, immobilizer control system, air-bag control system, power steering, and headlight system with or without DRL controller.
This gives the repair information a practical fault-tracing path from symptom and DTC tables to connector locations, circuit checks, component inspection, and final confirmation. Fastener-strength charts, tightening-torque tables, service-material listings, inspection limits, and electrical test specifications are placed throughout the relevant sections rather than collected as generic reference data.
