Yamaha Manual Features & Content Preview
- 2013 model coverage: Yamaha XV19SD(C), XV19CTSD(C), XV19CSD(C), and XV19CD(C), with USA, California, and Canadian build IDs. Published as Yamaha Service Manual P/N LIT-11616-26-33, First Edition, July 2012; 500 PDF pages.
- FI and engine management: Follows the system from the fuel tank and pump through the pressure regulator, twin injectors, throttle bodies, ISC unit, ECU, sensors, O2 feedback, ignition coils, and EXUP control. Factory procedures cover fuel-pressure testing, throttle-position-sensor adjustment, throttle-body synchronization, diagnostic mode, and fault-code isolation.
- Engine repair chapters document engine removal, camshafts, rocker arms, push rods, hydraulic valve lifters, cylinder heads, valves, pistons, hydraulic clutch, generator and starter clutch, transfer gear case, crankcase, oil pumps, crankshaft, connecting rods, and transmission service.
- Chassis sections separate the XV19S/XV19CTS and XV19CS/XV19C setups while covering wheels and static balance, brake calipers and master cylinders, front-fork overhaul, steering-head service, rear suspension and swingarm work, drive-belt and pulley service, plus windshield, backrest, and sidebag-bracket components.
- Electrical diagnosis is supported by ignition, starting, charging, lighting, signaling, fuel-injection, and fuel-pump circuit diagrams; ECU self-diagnosis tables; connector and component checks; and dedicated 2013 wiring diagrams for the two model families.
- Exploded assembly views, job charts, variant-specific cable and hose routing, lubrication charts and section views, tightening sequences, engine and chassis torque tables, capacities, wear limits, clearances, electrical test data, and Yamaha special-tool numbers are included throughout.
Documented Systems and Maintenance Coverage
The publication is limited to the 2013 models identified on its cover. The General Specifications table identifies XV19SD 1D7N for the USA, XV19SDC 1D7P for California, and XV19SD 1D7R for Canada; XV19CTSD 2BH1, XV19CTSDC 2BH2, and XV19CTSD 2BH3 for the same three markets; XV19CD 1US3/30BK, XV19CDC 1US4/30BL, and XV19CD 30BM; plus XV19CSD 29PK/29PM and XV19CSDC 29PL. In the repair chapters, Yamaha commonly divides the machines into XV19S(C)/XV19CTS(C) and XV19CS(C)/XV19C(C) groups, with separate meter functions, exhaust checks, cable routing, fork and steering installation notes, and wiring diagrams.
The eight chapters move from identification, specifications, and periodic service into chassis, engine, fuel-system, electrical, and symptom-based troubleshooting work. Maintenance procedures include valve-clearance inspection and manual correction where required, throttle-body synchronization, ignition-timing checks, engine and transfer-gear oil service, hydraulic clutch and brake bleeding, EXUP cable adjustment, drive-belt slack adjustment, steering-head checks, rear-shock preload setup, battery testing, and headlight aiming.
FI coverage goes well beyond a system overview. The manual documents fuel-tank and pump removal, injector and throttle-body checks, rollover-valve and California evaporative-emissions layouts, pressure-regulator operation using a gauge and vacuum/pressure pump, throttle-position-sensor adjustment, and ISC-system testing. The electrical section adds stored fault-code tables, ECU substitute-operation behavior, meter-based diagnostic mode, probable-cause charts, reinstatement checks, and direct tests for sensors, coils, relays, charging components, the fuel pump, and the EXUP servo motor.
Fuel hoses can retain gasoline after the tank has been drained, and the hydraulic brake and clutch systems require the specified fluid and bleeding procedures. Follow the manual's procedure-specific warnings before opening fuel or hydraulic circuits or charging the battery.
Engine and Chassis Specification Highlights
The engine section is built around the 1854 cc air-cooled OHV V-twin, dry-sump lubrication system, hydraulic valve train, wet multi-disc clutch, transfer gear case, and belt final drive. It covers removal, disassembly, inspection, measurement, reassembly, and final adjustment. Particularly useful repair procedures include bleeding a valve lifter, checking the decompression system, servicing valve guides and seats, matching crankshaft and connecting-rod bearings, rebuilding the clutch master and release cylinders, inspecting both oil pumps, and assembling the transmission shafts and shift mechanism.
Chassis specifications are variant-aware rather than generic. The manual separates steering geometry, wheel and rim packages, fork and rear-suspension data, rear-brake arrangements, and belt-reduction details between the two chassis families. It also distinguishes the forged-wheel XV19C(C) 1US application from the cast-wheel builds and provides separate routing plates for each family, including California canister and purge-hose layouts.
Named visual references include the FI system schematic, engine-oil lubrication chart, crankcase and transmission lubrication section views, model-specific cable-routing plates, system circuit diagrams, and full-page color-coded wiring diagrams for XV19SD/XV19CTSD and XV19CSD/XV19CD. The special-tool table lists both 90890 numbers and USA/Canada YM/YU equivalents, including the Vacuummate, rear drive-belt tension gauge, adjustable fork-seal driver, valve-spring compressor, fuel-pressure adapter, and multimeter with tachometer.
Several notes prevent expensive reassembly mistakes. Tight frame clearance requires the rear cylinder-head-cover bolts to remain with the cover so they do not scratch the rocker area. Excessive force during fork separation can damage the oil seal and bushings, while bottoming the inner tube can damage the oil-flow stopper. The routing plates also mark fuel-tank-bracket and ECU pinch zones, and the fuel-hose connector cover must lock in its specified position before the hose is considered properly installed.
