Its emission-control and general maintenance charts cover spark plugs, valve-clearance service, engine oil and filter, transfer-case oil, air-filter cleaning, throttle and clutch adjustments, brakes, drive-belt checks, wheels and tires, steering and wheel bearings, pivot lubrication, battery, fuses, bulbs, and chassis fasteners. Care, corrosion protection, storage, identification information, specifications, and a basic fuel-compression-ignition-battery troubleshooting chart are also included.

The owner’s manual supports operation, preventive maintenance, and minor repair; the service manual provides the teardown, testing, and assembly information required for workshop-level repair.

Repair cautions are assembly-specific. The drive belt must retain its running direction and must not be sharply bent, turned inside out, or twisted, since mishandling can damage it. Excessive force during fork disassembly can damage the oil seal and bushings, while bottoming the tubes can damage the oil-flow stopper. Brake-caliper internals must not be cleaned with solvents because the piston seals can swell and distort; new dust seals and piston seals are required whenever a caliper is disassembled.

Perform fuel-system work in a well-ventilated area away from sparks or open flame. Securely support the motorcycle before wheel, fork, swingarm, or engine removal, and use trained service practices for hydraulic brakes, electrical testing, and internal engine repair.
