One especially important model-specific section concerns the 2003 440 PRO X Liquid when used on trails. Polaris specifies Head Kit P/N 2202188 for 92-octane non-oxygenated premium fuel; the stock high-compression race configuration requires 110-octane fuel, and the manual warns that engine damage can result if the required trail conversion is not made. It also states that the kit is not legal for ISR-sanctioned race use and that installation must be performed by an authorized Polaris dealer.
