Engine Repair and Cooling Systems

Separate engine sections cover the Fuji 550 fan-cooled twin and Liberty liquid-cooled engines. Piston and cylinder measurements, honing, crankcase-bearing inspection, connecting-rod checks, and crankshaft truing and indexing extend the coverage beyond routine maintenance.

Routine maintenance covers filter service, lubrication points, and off-season storage. Component torque tables and tightening-pattern drawings accompany the assembly procedures. The general-information chapter adds standard bolt torques, metric conversion charts, VIN decoding, and a service glossary.

P-85 Clutches and Reverse Systems

The P-85 Drive Clutch exploded view supports procedures for roller inspection, button shimming, spider indexing, and belt-to-sheave clearance. Belt-width references, offset checks, and torque-stop adjustment help connect belt-wear symptoms with clutch setup.

Separate sections address electric-reverse roller clutches and TEAM high-performance roller-clutch maintenance. The drive-clutch chapter requires trained, authorized Polaris dealer personnel and factory service tools. It warns that impact-wrench use on the drive clutch can loosen the spider and damage the crankshaft.

Chassis, Shocks, and Hydraulic Brakes

The Rear Suspension Exploded View / XTRA Lite and EDGE RMK illustrations show the suspension assemblies and mounting points. Setup material covers track tension, ski alignment, spring preload, and Vertical Escape compression and rebound adjustments.

Shock information includes unit-specific valving arrangements, IFP-depth references, and Ryde FX rebuild procedures. Hayes master-cylinder cartridge replacement, caliper inspection, and brake bleeding are followed by chaincase, driveshaft, jackshaft-bearing, and mechanical-reverse service.

Electrical Tests and Vertical Escape D.E.T.

The electrical chapter includes a No Spark diagnostic flowchart, stator and ignition-coil tests, lighting-circuit checks, starter testing, and TPS testing and adjustment with test kit P/N 2201519.

For the 800 RMK Vertical Escape, D.E.T. flash-signal tables distinguish detonation warnings, sensor faults, and high coolant temperature. The manual also explains the system's limits under hot operating conditions.

Examples of Engine Torque and Capacity Data

These are a few examples of the torque and capacity specifications provided alongside the service information.

For the 700 and 800 Liberty engines, the cylinder-head bolt torque is 18–22 ft-lb (25–30 Nm), with tightening patterns shown separately. The Fuji 550 fan-cooled engine's 8 mm crankcase bolts are specified at 16.6–18 ft-lb (22–25 Nm).

The 800 SKS specification sheet lists an 11.8-gallon fuel tank (44.7 liters), alongside its lubrication and cooling capacities.
