This three-publication Yamaha factory service set provides the complete service information Yamaha specifies for the 2005 YZF-R6T and California-spec YZF-R6TC. The 2005 supplement does not repeat unchanged procedures; Yamaha directs the mechanic to use it with the original YZF-R6R/YZF-R6SR/YZF-R6RC/YZF-R6SRC service manual and the YZF-R6S/YZF-R6SC supplement. Yamaha produced these manuals primarily for dealers and qualified mechanics, so the set is suited to technicians and experienced owners who already understand motorcycle repair and have access to the specified test equipment and special tools.

The YZF-R6T/YZF-R6TC book contains only the service data and procedures changed for that release. Yamaha lists the YZF-R6S/YZF-R6SC supplement as a required companion publication because its revisions remain part of the T/TC service information. It supplies changed specifications and cable routing, revised fuel-pump installation, air-induction layouts, ignition troubleshooting, lighting-system checks, and its model-specific wiring diagram. The T/TC supplement then adds revised cable routing and model-specific work for the front wheel and brake discs, front master cylinder and calipers, fork legs, drive chain, radiator, electric-starting circuit, and cooling-fan circuit.
Service and Repair Coverage
The base manual carries the unchanged repair procedures. Periodic service includes valve-clearance adjustment, throttle-body synchronization, compression and engine-oil-pressure checks, fuel-tank and fuel-pump removal, brake bleeding, steering-head adjustment, suspension setup, and drive-chain adjustment. Engine chapters extend through removal and installation, camshafts and timing chain, cylinder-head and valve service, starter clutch and generator, clutch, oil pump, crankcase, pistons and connecting rods, crankshaft, and transmission.
Chassis repair covers wheel removal and static balance, brake master cylinders and calipers, front-fork and steering-head work, rear-shock handling, and swingarm service. Cooling-system coverage includes the radiator, oil cooler, thermostat, and water pump.
Diagnostics, Diagrams, and Technical Data
The fuel-injection chapter goes beyond a symptom list. It provides the ECU self-diagnostic function, fail-safe actions, diagnostic-mode checks, troubleshooting charts, and detailed fault isolation for the sensors, injectors, throttle bodies, fuel pump, pressure regulator, and throttle-position sensor. Electrical specifications identify model-specific CDI units and supply the related ignition-coil and component test data.
Exploded assembly drawings and numbered job charts open the removal and disassembly sections. Representative visual references include the cooling-system diagrams, engine-oil lubrication chart, FI-system wiring diagram and troubleshooting chart, air-induction-system diagrams, electric-starting and cooling circuit diagrams, and the three model-family wiring-diagram sets. For the 2005 fork procedures, Yamaha specifies the damper-rod holder YM-01423, rod holder YM-01434, fork spring compressor YM-01441, and fork-seal driver YM-01442, alongside the corresponding 90890-series tool numbers. The base manual also identifies the measuring and holding tools used for compression, oil-pressure and fuel-pressure testing, throttle-body synchronization, ignition checks, clutch work, and engine assembly.
Yamaha calls out repair traps that are easy to miss. Uneven camshaft-cap loading can damage the cylinder head, caps, and camshafts, while mixing selected connecting-rod or crankshaft bearings can alter the intended oil clearances and cause engine damage. Foreign material can also compromise the fork's sensitive damper internals; high-pressure chain-cleaning methods can force dirt or water into the chain, while unsuitable solvents can deteriorate its O-rings.
Working on high-performance motorcycles carries inherent risks. Follow Yamaha's warnings and standard shop safety practices, and have a qualified mechanic verify brake, steering, suspension, electrical, or structural repairs before the motorcycle returns to the street.
