Specification Highlights
Cold valve clearance is 0.11–0.20 mm intake and 0.21–0.25 mm exhaust, supported by a valve-pad selection table covering 1.20–2.40 mm pads in 0.05 mm increments. Primary sheave offset is 14.5–17.5 mm, secondary sheave free play is 1.0–2.0 mm, and track deflection is 30–35 mm at 100 N (22 lb). Engine-oil quantities are 2.45 L for a periodic change, 2.63 L with filter replacement, and 3.00 L total; the drive-chain housing takes 0.25 L of GL-3 75W or 80W gear oil.

A few details matter when judging the repair depth. The primary-sheave spider uses a left-hand thread and a 200 Nm torque; poor support during removal or assembly can crack the spider or sheaves. Drive-chain-housing spacers must return to their original positions or the brake disc and secondary shaft can bind. During valve-clearance work, a misplaced valve pad can fall into the crankcase, and lifters and pads must remain identified by position.
Rotating track and clutch components, hydraulic brakes, a pressurized cooling system, and nitrogen-charged shock absorbers require proper support, isolation, and service equipment. Follow the manual’s model-specific warnings and specifications before beginning complex repair work.
